Hi, I’m Sally!

I grew up on a grain property near Brookstead, QLD and currently live with my partner Corey and labrador Ruby on one of his family’s properties, ‘Koorinda Park’, just outside of Chinchilla, QLD. I absolutely love it. On the farm there is a mixture of crops grown – wheat, sorghum, cotton, barley, chickpeas, mung beans and a small amount of cattle.

Alongside being passionate about the farm, I love gardening. It’s a hobby that I have really learnt to love. There’s something about it that brings me so much joy. You may already follow my Instagram page ‘Koorinda Park Gardens’ where I share our garden that we started from scratch in 2021. I’m pretty proud of it!

My love of farming and home décor is what brought together the idea of Home Soil in 2021. An afternoon walk beside the wheat paddock the idea came to me, why don’t I try and sell these. I’m not one to sit on an idea so I created a logo, Instagram & Facebook page, ordered some marketing materials and started advertising and boy did it take off! I love the thought of someone displaying a piece of my home in theirs, especially a part of the country that not many live near to appreciate. The wheat bunches are handpicked & bundled straight from the paddock by me, no care or water is needed they really are everlasting.

A couple of years ago I was gifted a sewing machine for Christmas. I began making some liberty & gingham items to gift to friends & family. From there my love for sewing grew. I love pretty things and seeing a piece of fabric transform into something I’ve pictured in my head.

Combing these two passions came the re-brand of Home Soil and the creation of this website. Whether it be the wheat bunches or a sewn pillowcase everything available to purchase is made with love on my Home Soil. I truly love making items for your home and hope you get as much joy out of it as I do.
